LOST HIGHWAY EXPEDITION - “Highway of Post Brotherhood and Non Unity.”

'A multitude of individuals, groups and institutions will form a massive intelligent swarm that would move roughly along the unfinished “Highway of Brotherhood and Unity” in the former Yugoslavia. The road was made in sixties in the massive voluntary campaign of the peoples of all nationalities that constituted Yugoslavia. The expedition will generate projects, art works, networks, architecture and politics based on the found knowledge. Projects developed from the expedition will lead to events in Europe and the USA.
Lost Highway Expedition will begin in Ljubljana, and travel through Zagreb, Novi Sad, Belgrade, Skopje, Pristina, Tirana,  Podgorica to conclude in Sarajevo, comprised of two days of events at each city and one day of travel in between. '
Me and my colleage Hugo Lammerink went on this expedition to explore these Western' Balkan cities. During the trip we executed ‘spontanious’ fountains on selected locations, where we consider these as a metaphor for the movement of people along this route.

THE WATERMILL CENTER:THE GRAND OPENING

After many years of (re) construction, the former Western Union facility in Long Island ' historic town Watermill got transformed into an 21st century academy for arts and humanities.
The Watermill Center will serve both the local and international communities. It will host the Watermill Collection and operate as a study center for Asian and Tribal Arts.
In addition, the Watermill Center will be home to the Robert Wilson Archive, a collection of papers, films, and artifacts documenting the activities of Wilson and his collaborators.

CHRISTO REY ARMAGEDDON

In Mexico I laid my hands on a set of previously unreleased pictures of the Christo Rey project in which I cooperated in 2004 with Martin and Matias Teufel Sanchez as well as Kalucha, Pansas, Abel and others.
The project was a 10 meter high commision of a triumphing Jezus to be installed onto a hiltop overlooking the city of Pachuga in Hidalgo state.
After some doubts of whether or not it would be realized in bronze or fiberglass, only half of the sculpture got finished and so the project was kind of unsuccesfull.

The Christ got destroyed to get rid of the volume it took in the workshop. For sure what all people working on this project gained was the experience to work on this kind of a scale.

I would like to show these pictures of the completed half and termination. Also have a look at the new website of these artists.

PRELUDE SHADOWMONUMENT

In 2005 Delphi Foundation approached me to integrate a site specific artwork in the neighbourhood Spangen, Rotterdam. After review of my proposal for the shadow monument of meadieval Castle Spangen, ideas rose to first combine the spatial intervention with a social one.
The result came with 4 weekend cultural events where the inhabitants of the street where stimulated to participate. We made a weekly chalk projection of the shadow monument onto the streetbricks, knight tournament, sandcastle competition, heraldic design workshop and finaly a banquet to celebrate the end of the project.
